Communication is more important than you think, in our society, communication is everywhere, our world is established as a Communication sphere where information goes faster and faster and where social interactions are multiple and continual. As a fact let me describe the Frederick II’s Experiment that was such a crucial progress concerning the communication field.
The Language Deprivation Experiment
Frederick II also called “the Holy Roman Emperor” was a monarch during the medieval era (1194-1250). Unintentionally, the monarch found out one of the greatest discovery of our civilization as we called The Language Deprivation Experiment.
In the XIII century, Frederick wanted to know what was the “natural language” of human being. He decided to set up a experiment to answer his questions. As a result, he took five babies without talking, exchanging and chatting to them: it shouldn’t have interaction with the babies. Due to the absence of social interaction with the young infants raised, Frederick hoped to discover what will be our natural language.
So the babies were educate by the fosters-mother and the nurses as normal baby, they were washed & also fed but with no human interaction. When I say “with no interaction” I mean no touches, no talks and no emotions: a completely mute world. Frederick believed that by using this kind of experiment, he would be able to discover the Adam & Eve language imparted by God himself.
After 3 years of experiment, results were disastrous, indeed, it turns out that the five babies were all dead. Frederick II was so disappointed about the experimentation and as a fact, he was persuaded that he could find out our natural language. As he believed as a failure was one of the biggest discovery of our world.
People aren’t only “biological human being” we’re also “social human being”. Without social interaction we cannot lived. Communication is so important that we can’t progress and evolve without it. In this experience, babies needed communication and as a result they were dead because of the lack of interaction, they just let themselves die.
Woooow this is crazy !!! So interesting ! Poor babies by the way…
Thanks you for your comment, indeed, life can be hard sometimes…
I wholeheartedly agree that social interaction is one of the most, if not the most important aspects of our lives. I cannot imagine a life growing up with minimal or no interaction towards friends and family. It sounds inhumane and extremely cruel. One of humanity’s biggest strengths yet its biggest weaknesses, I believe, is its constant hunger for social interaction.
I totally agree, with you SIDGOKHS, I mean social interaction is a crucial part of our lives, we chat with our friends all that kind of stuff and in a way, it is what it defines you like your connections between friends, family, and teachers is what we called the “second steps of your socialization” so yes that’s really important and vital.
