Foods Scientifically Proven to Make You Happy

Serotonin is known as the happy hormone, it is secreted in the brain and is also known to be an effective mood stabilizer. Foods that contain tryptophan can lead to serotonin being secreted in your brain, therefore causing you to feel lighter and happier. Research has also shown that when a low-tryptophan diet is followed, brain serotonin levels drop

Some foods that are high in tryptophan are:

  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Pineapple
  • Tofu
  • Salmon
  • Nuts
  • Turkey
  • Beans and Lentils

Foods high in iron and protein contain large amounts of tryptophan and the foods listed above are a natural way of boosting the serotonin levels in your body!

Also, carbs produce insulin that are known as amino acid absorbers, tryptophan being an amino acid, it is absorbed into the body faster which results in serotonin being secreted in the brain. The conclusion also tells you how your body scientifically needs a balanced diet with carbs and protein, which explains the moods swings and cravings people feel on a crash diet!
