We’re launching THE GREAT AMERICAN CHRISTMAS COOKIE SEARCH, nearly 2 weeks of live events around the search for the ultimate American Christmas cookie. Think Mission Pawsible, but for cookies.

We are asking viewers to send us their favorite original cookie recipe on our website and booking live events over the coming days on our Facebook page.

Who doesn’t love a delicious crumbly or gooey holiday cookie but is there one ultimate Christmas cookie? That is our next series I am working on.

The average American eats nearly 19,000 cookies over their lifetime and the best of them are usually eaten during Christmas. Santa Claus eats over 300 million cookies on Christmas Eve – that’s if he visits 500 million households worldwide, and takes 2 bites per cookie left by the Christmas tree.

We launched the search today by bringing the anchors favorite cookies to the table. George had Jam Thumbnails, Amy had Christmas Sugar Cookies, Michael had we Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Lara brought peanut butter blossoms.

We will be doing a Facebook livestream each day from a different bakery, restaurant or getting tips from a popular pastry chef to teach us about their best Christmas and holiday cookies. Some places we will take our viewers is to Buddy Valastro’s Carlos Bakery, Dominique Ansel’s Bakery who is known for the infamous cronut creation, The Girl Scouts hot chocolate thin mint cookie, Breads Bakery, Levain cookies and a bunch of other delicious places!

Do you have a favorite Christmas or holiday cookie that you make with your family? Do you have any passed down recipe traditions? If so, share with me and submit your recipe and story to our mailform on the GMA website or use the hashtag #GMAcookiesearch!
