Traveling to England as a backpacker

I remembered that when i heard that my friend planed to visit England and Scotland a few year ago during spring break. I asked that can i go with you? And she said yes! Fun time begins. This’s my first time to travel as a backpacker.

She already did prepare for the visa, plane ticket, and all stuff but I did have time to these in only 2 weeks. Since she did well research, I got everything done in time. We didn’t go and back to state in the same flight but we were  a buddy for the trip. I took the plane to London and stayed at  the hostel. We just chose the one that close to the subway which’s good review from other guests. The cost’s about $10-15/night. We went to London, Liverpool, and Edinburg, Scotland in 10 days with one bag and my camera.

Day 1:
I spent a day by myself. Buying one day Oyster card and then i used it as much as i can. I went to London Tower Bridge, Westminster Abby, London Eye, Big Ben, Somerset House.

Day 2:
We caught the train and bus to Wiltshire for Stonehenge, stopped at one of  Harry Porter ‘s filming location for a day trip. Then, we were back to London at night.

Day 3:
We spent time at Windsor castle and in London area.

Day 4-6:
We were heading to Edinburgh, Scotland buy bus and stayed at another hostel near by the Edinburgh castle. I was very impressive at this place. We spent 3 days here for the museum, walk around the town.

Day 7-8:
We caught the early train to Liverpool and stayed at another hostel. The soccer is a big thing for Thai people, either Manchester United or Liverpool, we have to choose one to be a fan. Then we made a last visit to Liverpool at the Anfield, the Beatles story exhibition and museum of the town.

Day 9-10:
Buckingham palace , Green park and The making of Harry Potter studio tour. Then we were back to the states.

Moreover, we saved the money by bought all metro, bus, train, museum and tour tickets online. Also, we stayed at hostel which’s cheap ,secure ,free wifi and breakfast. We also bought some grocery and made some meals during the trip. Also, if you show the student ID, you will get a discount. There are many places that i would love to visit and i realize that when people travel as backpacker, they can stay up to a month or longer than that. If I have a chance , I would like to visit other places as a bag packer again. What is the next trip?

The photos you took are awesome, sounds like you had an unreal adventure! One of my favorite parts of backpacking is actually planning the trip so it’s cool you broke the trip down day-by-day. Now I am thinking for my next post I will just post a past trip itinerary. Thanks for the idea!
