Good to know before visiting Paris

Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world, so I am not surprised if you plan to visit it. Obviously, I am sure that you will love the french gastronomy, the typically parisian mood, and this beautiful city with its little streets and its cobblestones. It is actually so cliché but so true. However there are some other things that people forget to tell you about Paris…

First of all, I want you to know that, even if Paris is a wonderful city, parisians are known to be arrogant, unpleasant and discourteous. As you can guess, I am not from Paris, I am from Lille, which is in the North of France at like 130 miles away from Paris. Dany Boon, the french humorist from Lille who produced the film Welcome to the Sticks, said in one of his famous sketch “A parisian never smiles, it makes you wonder if he has teeth.”  Now that I informed you about french people, you can start to prepare your trip to enjoy Paris. You must know that in France, the tips at a restaurant or a bar are not common as in the United States because the service is including in taxes. We generally give a tip, as a reward, when the waiters showed themselves very nice or flexible for a rare occasion. You also will have to change your money because the dollar is not accepted in France as we use euros. You had better to do it in advance if you want to take advantage of the exchange rate. Last thing but not least, don’t forget to watch your step when you walk in a french street because people don’t curb their dogs as people do it in New York, so you will certainly have bad surprise if you are not prudent.

Concerning tourist spots and other parisians features, I am sure that you will find all informations you want on the Internet through blogs and guides, but I will give you soon some other travel ideas around Paris … 🙂
