Christmas is just around the corner and what’s best than to celebrate it with your loved ones. Lots of department stores like Macy’s, Saks, and Lord and Taylor are trying to lure shoppers with their crazy Christmas sales and magnificent Christmas window displays. At nighttime, tourists flocking the sidewalks of those stores and spend a considerable amount of time taking photos which annoy New Yorkers at some point but hey, Christmas only comes once a year, right?
Speaking of Christmas, on 12/6/2014 my bf and I went to Radio City Music Hall to watched The Rockettes as part of Radio City Christmas Spectacular. For those who are not familiar, this Christmas special has been around since 1933 and is normally showcased from early Nov to end of December at Radio City Music Hall. My bf actually surprised me with this show since I told him I have always wanted to see The Rockettes (I mean, the dancers are just way too awesome to describe with words). So we sat down for 1,5 hours and did we like it? We enjoyed it!
The show consists of several acts and Santa is definitely the main character in this Christmas Special show along with The Rockettes. The Rockettes’ dancers were just superb and you could tell that these Rockettes girls were definitely picked from God knows how many dancers who auditioned each year just so they could join the group and had the privilege of performing at Radio City Music Hall. One of the scene which I particularly like is the Parade of Wooden Soldiers when the Rockettes girls were dressed in red and white soldiers costumes and they had to dropped down like dominos as soon as the cannon hits them. Boy, what a beautifully choreographed scene. That definitely takes hours and hours of practice!
As we watched the final scene of the Nativity sequence, we realized that 1,5 hours went by so quick and next thing you know, we were ushered to got out of the building. I think that this show is definitely something you have to experience at least once. No matter how old or how young you are, The Rockettes and Radio City Christmas Spectacular should be in your must-see-and-do list in New York City. 🙂
P.S: tickets can be as low as $40 for Orchestra sections seating so make sure you book in advance 😉
