One day, I saw that my friend Julia (not her real name) posted her work profile on Facebook. I started thinking why she posted it. Normally, I have seen many friends of mine post personal things about their daily lives, but Julia was the only friend who always posted more professional things like articles related to her field, current situations around the world, and technologies advances. Then I started to explore on the Internet and I found that now many people use social media as a tool to help them to find their jobs, to market their products, and to reach customers as much as they can.
Here is another example of how social media can help you achieve your career goals. On my way to New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), I saw a guy distributing newspapers and greeting passer by saying “Good morning Am New York” I grabbed one and read it on the train. Suddenly I saw an article “Branding Yourself on social media” which emphasizes that now most people know that everything that they post on social media is available to employers, agencies, and recruiters. Instead of posting pictures of their personal life, they post more relevant things that show their career goals.
In my opinion, we should remember that creating an identity on social media helps you to find a job. Branding your company on social media helps you to reach more customers to buy your product, and knowing how to use social media well can give you an edge over competitors or candidates.
