The owners and the staff were extremely nice and attentive. The music was good; I was a bit surprised because they were playing American music (RB, Hip-Hop, Tech, Reggae and Spanish). It’s a nice atmosphere for a date because they have about 3 private booths then 4 other booths along the wall that seat up to 12 people.
The waitress had invited us to come down on a Friday/Saturday night because it’s usually packed. With that said I will NEVER be there on either night. I like to sit down and chat over drinks not stand up all night and sweat.
Moving along…
The downfall was the food options, but I guess they moved up because the food menu is new. It took me about 20 mins to decide on the four choices they had. There were no appetizers to choose from only entrées. I wasn’t hungry so I just split a half a chicken, rice and salad meal with my friend-which was awesome.
We purchased to hookahs’ ($7 each). The waitress recommended a vanilla and coconut flavor—that was the best one. We also tried the fruit cocktail. It was ok; I could have passed on that one.
I had a good hookah experience here, the staff was teaching us how to make circles with the smoke (Oh, and I’m not a smoker). My overall experience at Sultana Café was great, I would definitely be returning.
This lounge is located at 25-03 Steinway Street in Astoria. If you do go and it happens not to be your cup of tea, there’s a ZILLION more on Steinway to pick from.
I went to Hookah place last nite too. But i was in Lexington, Latin place. I didnt know that they had Hookah here too. I have never tried it. I smelled it last night. It was not bad..The place i went is called LQ. You might try to hang out there,if you like Hookah.
Ummm…I’ll have to try there..love options
This place seems to be great! I was looking for a special place to chill and I was wondering if the hookah was allowed in United States because in a lot of countries it is considering as a smoke even if it is not a cigarette! I definitely want to try this, thank you for the address!
OMG..you been missing out…Steinway St is full of Hookah places, some are BYOB .
Fascinating the flavor you tried out ! because i never tried anything but basic friut like Apple and Grape thats all we really use in the Middle East !
They had about 20 flavors to try….when you go coconut vanilla is a MUST!
I am not really a hookha fan but I am dragged to hookha parlors thanks to my friends. Will pass on this new lounge to my friends they will love the addition. Btw there is this place Kazuza in East village, apparently they have really good hookha and also belly dancer as a plus!!!
