So I haven’t bought music, whether it’s a CD or digital file in the last 5 years, but I listen to music everyday on my computer and smartphone!
The reason why is the Swedish streaming service Spotify which recently entered the U.S market.
Now I understand that the majority doesn’t like changes like the ones Spotify introduces, but think about what your getting.
- Acces to millions of albums, tracks and artists for ONLY ONE cd’s price a month. And yeah – you’ll also find music by J. Cole on Spotify:-)
- Access to information about artists, albums and tracks that extends the amount of information (text/pictures) in a printed booklet
- Ability to play your favorit music offline at home, on any computer, but also on your smartphone when you’re on the move.
- Discover, play, collaborate or share playlists with your friends.
Change is never easy, but hey – you get access to so much more for practically no money at all. In fact you will be saving money while listening to more music than your have done ever before. Also. Lets not forget the social aspect! Spotify lets you collaborate and share music with each other and is only going to get easier since they have teamed up with Facebook.
Never has it been easier to discover, play, collaborate and share music with your friends and you’ll love it!
What are your thoughts on this? I have Spotify invites to the first 5 who shares their thoughts on this topic with me!
I think this is so cool, i’ve been waiting for something like this!!
I’m with you Victor! I know that there is a lot of services like Spotify, but I really like Spotify and that is work both at home and on-the-go without Internet connection. Do you want me to send you an invite?
Music sharing has reached the era of nonpossession. You don’t even need a file any longer. The file is housed on someone else’s hard drive, too! This is fantastic that sharing files through the web is now a very simple and neat process, rather than the mess it used to be years ago. Are there commercials during the songs?
You are absolutely right Chris! It’s definitely easier to share music, but another problem arises with it. The owner of the place where it gets stored becomes the gatekeeper. Once this gatekeeper gets enough users it can can increase the price of the service it provides. I really don’t hope that Spotify will do this because I think they will loose a lot of users that way. Only time well tell I guess:-)
The Free Account comes with commercials, but lets you hear music for free. The Premium Account (9.95$ a month) on the other hand doesn’t have commercials at all and has a lot more interesting features that the videos above really don’t mention. For instance you can hear the music OFFLINE on your smartphone making it posible to use your smartphone as an iPod. This is perfect for when you don’t have any Internet reception which happens a lot in NYC.
This sounds great. I definitely agree that change isn’t easy when it comes to these things but this seems like a great way to adapt to the way we listen to music. I’ll have to look into this! Also, I love the video ad for this — so fun!
In my case I have learned not to think about what I’m loosing (like cd’s and booklets) because that will definitely make a change even harder:-)
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing, I’ll sure check it out!:)
